Shift Supervisor

Wendy’s is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable names in the fast food industry, known for their burgers as well as their clever social media presence.

As a shift supervisor at Wendy’s I learned a lot of valuable lessons. Working in a fast paced environment helped me to become adaptable in day to day operations, as last minute call offs, equipment failures, and power outages were ever present and could change my plans for the work day in an instant. Because of this, as well as working in a timed environment, I became very used to working in a fast paced environment and working under pressure.

As a shift supervisor some common responsibilities in my day included checking inventory and sending the product order, reconciling cash, creating a daily operations plan to run my shifts, creating work orders when needed for equipment, and managing and training crew members.

A large part of every shift, of course, was customer service and focusing on performance metrics such as our upselling goals or special promotions sales (frosty key tags, for example). I am very proud to have been working at a store that consistently was able to be on the leaderboard for these types of sales, even when compared to stores that had more staff and were in higher traffic areas. Effective communication and overall team effort played a large role in our success.

As I became more senior in my time at Wendy’s I also became in charge of doing interviews and reporting back on which candidates would best suite open positions as well as looking at customer VOCs and determining main focus areas to best serve our customers, often communicating in areas we did well in and could further improve on weekly to crew and managers as well as coming up with plans on how to execute with my fellow managers.
